Pivot Shuttle SL Description

We’re really excited to have the Pivot Shuttle SL E-MTB in our rental bike lineup. Our Shuttle SL rental bikes weight just 43 pounds (medium Ride SLX/XT build w/o pedals), making them the lightest e-bikes in our fleet. If you want an even lighter bike, Pivot’s Shuttle SL World Cup build weighs just over 36 pounds. The Fazua Ride 60 motor and 430 watt-hour battery provide plenty of power and range and eliminate about 2 pounds of weight. The Shuttle SL has 132mm of DW Link suspension in the rear with a 150mm Fox 36 fork in the front. Combined with the Fazua pedal-assist motor and 29er wheels, it’s perfect for big Southern Utah mesa tours and squeezing in post-work quickie rides.

With 132mm of rear-wheel travel and a 65° head angle, it’s clear the Pivot Shuttle SL is very much a trail bike. The combination of stiffness, shorter travel and DW Link suspension make it very efficient, quick and responsive. That’s a perfect recipe for fun on Southern Utah trails like Gooseberry Mesa. On the other hand, it’s not very forgiving on steep, fast, technical terrain like the Grafton DH or Brian Head Bike Park’s nastier trails.

The mountain bike media has great things to say about the Pivot Shuttle SL. Enduro-MTB.com says the Shuttle SL handles “like a surgeon’s knife … precise and direct…” They also said, “It’s one of the best climbers in our test, with the DW Link rear suspension working extremely efficiently and generating plenty of traction.” Read their Pivot Shuttle SL review, here.

Last but not least, British mountain bike publication, MBR, named the Pivot Shuttle SL their, “2023 Lightweight E-Bike of the Year.” They liked its “natural ride feel,” the “quiet, smooth and efficient” Fazua motor, and they noted it had the best battery range of all the bikes in their, “2023 Best Electric Mountain Bike,” test.

Clearly, if you’re in the market for a lightweight, pedal-friendly E-MTB, the Pivot Shuttle SL is one of the best bikes out there. It’s very well-suited to most of our local slickrock mesa trails, which reward quick acceleration and precise handling. You probably won’t be doing any big hucks to flat but you’ll have an E-MTB with natural handling that encourages you to go a little longer and ride a little more often.

If you want a bike that’s more gravity/freeride-friendly and weight isn’t a critical consideration for you, take a look the Pivot Shuttle LT. It weighs more than the Shuttle SL but has a higher-capacity battery and considerably more travel.
