Over the Edge Melrose has long been built around a simple combination: great riding, great food and a genuine love for the Southern Flinders Ranges.
We’re incredibly grateful to Kerri and Rich, who have spent many years building Over the Edge into the much-loved business it is today. Their contribution extends well beyond the shop itself — through their support of local trails, events, visitors and the wider Melrose community, they have helped establish the town as one of South Australia’s most recognised mountain biking destinations. We’re proud to take on what they have created and excited to carry that legacy into its next chapter.
As the new owners of Over the Edge Melrose, our focus is on building on those strong foundations while continuing to make OTE a place where locals, riders, travellers and families feel welcome. Whether you’re here for the trails, passing through the Southern Flinders, looking for your next bike, or simply chasing a great coffee and something to eat, we want Over the Edge to be part of your Melrose experience.
Located in the heart of Melrose, a historic township in South Australia’s spectacular Southern Flinders Ranges, Over the Edge is in a pretty special position. With a population of only a few hundred people, Melrose combines country-town character with some of the best outdoor experiences in the region. From our front door on the main street, riders can head straight towards an extensive network of mountain bike trails, while the surrounding area offers hiking, cycling, scenic drives, historic sites and plenty of opportunities to explore the Flinders landscape.
At the centre of Over the Edge is our unique combination of bike shop and café. It’s a place to start the day with coffee, fuel up before a ride, talk bikes, meet other riders, grab some local merchandise or settle in after an adventure.
Our bike shop caters for everyone from experienced mountain bikers through to recreational riders, families and visitors discovering the area for the first time. We stock a carefully selected range of bikes, parts, accessories, riding gear and merchandise, supported by local knowledge to help riders get the most from their time in Melrose.
For visitors who don’t bring their own bike, our bike hire fleet provides options for a range of ages, abilities and adventures. That might mean kids doing endless laps of the pump track, a first mountain bike experience, tackling the local trails, or exploring the region at a more relaxed pace on an e-bike.
Ultimately, the people who find their way to Over the Edge tend to have a few things in common: a love of being outdoors, a sense of adventure and an appreciation for good coffee.
