Each year in September the bike world descends on Las Vegas for the annual Interbike show, the largest bicycle tradeshow in North America, held at the Mandalay Bay convention center. Over The Edge was there representing with members from Fruita, Hurricane, Sedona, and Tahoe – We had Mike, Jason, and Ian from Sedona there. Besides checking out the latest and greatest for 2016 bikes and components, and getting a feel for future bike industry trends, the show is really about the people. It’s about being friends with the people we do business with – seeing them face to face for once, shaking hands, having a laugh, and drinking a beer together. It’s really the only reason I go to the show anymore, as most of the buying is done earlier in the year now, and pictures of all the new stuff is online before the show anyways.
One of the special things that Over The Edge does at the show is invite our bike industry friends to a show lunch. It’s basically an open bar to get away from the stress of the show floor, and get to know each other better. I don’t know of any other bike shops that do this, but it’s a really cool way to strengthen these relationships, and strengthens our business ties with these companies as well.
Enough with the reading, here’s some pics –
Welcome to Interbike!
Swag! There was a lot of free promotional items being handed out at the show. This stainless mug from Thule was one of our favorites.
Most interesting item? We never thought of Pickle Juice as a sports nutrition beverage, but maybe some marketing and packaging can change that!
The show room at Mandalay Bay convention center. A full day in here will give you a new appreciation for the fresh air outside.
New product that we are most interested in getting? Magura has a new dropper post with a wireless remote – we are really looking forward to getting a few of these and trying it out!
The 2016 line from Intense Bikes is looking sharp! New colorways and updated build kits, looking forward to another year of offering these bikes at the shop.
There’s also an Outdoor Demo at Bootleg Canyon to test out 2016 bikes. Mike and Ian spent a day here trying out some new short-travel aggressive 29er models.
Besides bikes and lots of beer, we got some fun in at the Vegas go kart track!
