This summer, Photo-John was in Montana and made a stop in Whitefish for an Esker Cycles headquarters visit. Esker is a small, relatively new, high-end mountain bike maker. Their first bike was the Hayduke, a cool and versatile hardtail adventure bike. In 2019, they came out with their first full-suspension bike, the 150mm 27.5 Elkat. Last year they introduced the Rowl, a 140mm 29er full-suspension trail bike. We carry both Esker bikes in the OTE, HU mountain bike rental fleet and since John was in the neighborhood it made sense for him to stop by and say hi. He got to take a look around Esker’s brand-new headquarters, meet some of the employees, and go for a ride with Esker founder Tim Krueger and his brother, Ryan. Photo-John got to ride the Rowl; and Ryan, who also happens to be a photographer (Follow @ryankrueger on Instagram for lots of great outdoor adventure photos.) took a few rare photos of John actually riding a bike. Esker went above and beyond on the ride and arranged for trailside huckleberry snacks and a bear sighting. Sorry – no photos of the bears or huckleberries. But both are standard mid-summer amenities when you’re riding in Whitefish.
Over the Edge, Hurricane is proud to include the Esker bikes in our Southern Utah mountain bike rental fleet. They’re beautifully made and spec’d and the Dave Weagle-designed Orion suspension has a unique feel. If you like fun, versatile all-mountain bikes with an active suspension that also climbs well, you need to ride an Esker.
