Fun with Friends The Over The Edge 3Day events are a chance for us to get together with our friends, ride bikes, make new friends, and experience what our various locations have to offer. A beautiful mix of sun, sand and bikes, the 2019 Baja OTE 3Day event was definitely a good one. Between riding bikes and enjoying quality time over just a few margaritas, too many tacos, and some late night churros, it was pretty much a perfect event. Our baja location carries rental bikes from Trek and Pivot as well as a range of replacement parts, tires and spare tubes, and awesome branded merchandise. Over The Edge Lake Tahoe presented our first advertised OTE 3Day event August 1st to 3rd this year. The event promised coffee, bike riding, beers, river floating, as well as a premier of Anthill Films new movie “Return to Earth” and it delivered on all of those promises. With no idea what to expect we arrived in town a day early and headed to the shop. Our group consisted of Troy Rarick, Bill Bergeron and Ian Hylands, and we were hoping that others would join us. At the shop we grabbed some tasty coffee and picked up some rad demo bikes from awesome brands including Evil and Rocky Mountain. OT3 Beginnings The OTE 3day is a 3 day adventure with friends and bikes in great locations. The idea of the Over The Edge OT3 has been evolving for a while. It comes from the basic premise that really all we want to do is share the love of adventures in awesome locations with our people. We’ve been doing that for a while now, and what we’ve found is that while we love going to bike festivals and seeing our friends, the best times are had before and after the busy part of the festival. We’re really excited to be one of the first shops in Utah (maybe even the US) to get the new 2020 Rocky Mountain Slayer 29er. Photo-John and Sanchez took it out for an early morning Grafton Mesa shakedown photo ride, last week. Grafton is a Hurricane area downhill/freeride classic. It was originally a Mormon pioneer woodcutter’s road. The remnants of that old “road” are now a steep, rocky mess – perfect for a first ride on the new Rocky Mountain Slayer! The Slayer was one of the first dedicated freeride bikes to hit the market. It debuted in 2001 as a smaller, lighter alternative to the straight-up downhill bikes most freeriders (and Froriders) were using. We’re excited to welcome the new Ibis Ripley 29er to the Over the Edge family! The Ripley has always been one of our most versatile mountain bikes and the updated 2019 Ripley is even better. Ibis took what they learned with their longer-travel Ripmo and applied that to the 120/130mm-travel Ripley to make what their calling the “Mini’Mo.” We’ve had the bike for a couple of days here in Hurricane and it’s a fantastic ride – just as you’d expect from an Ibis. At Over The Edge we love to have parties to bring our people together to celebrate how awesome mountain biking is. This year we hosted our first ever “Pre-Otter” event the day before Sea Otter. The event was held at Solosjuntos, Mike Ferrentino and Kelley Richardson’s property, about an hour from Laguna Seca. Invitations were sent out late and attendance was small, however we assembled a perfect group of our friends for the first year. John brought his van and set up a sweet sound system, and after Troy fired up the grill Maurice Tierney and Mike Ferrentino took turns manning the grill. Conversation among friends lasted well into the evening as temperatures dropped and people gathered around the fire.
