Ibis Ripmo V3 Description
Since its introduction in 2018, the Ibis Ripmo has been one of our most popular bikes. In 2023, the Ripmo V2 was our most-rented bike and just missed being our best seller. Longer travel, 29er wheels, DW-Link suspension and fun, versatile geometry made it a blast to ride on almost any kind of trail. With 150mm of travel in the back and a 160mm fork, the new Ibis Ripmo V3 delivers the same good times the V1 and V2 did, with some subtle suspension and geometry improvements.
With the introduction of the Ibis HD6, a dedicated enduro rig, the Ripmo no longer needs to be Ibis’ biggest, burliest bike. That allowed Ibis to refine the Ripmo and make it into, “the ultimate trail-slaying machine.” OTE HU retail manager Pierce Kettering says, “The Ripmo V3 is designed to inspire pedal heads to push the tech a little harder.” It’s either a trail bike for enduro/park riders or an all-mountain bike for XC riders; a.k.a., the ultimate trail bike.
The bike pictured here was a top-shelf, custom build for a previous Ripmo owner and long-time Over the Edge Hurricane customer. He chose a SRAM X0 Transmission wireless drivetrain with SRAM Code RSC hydraulic disc brakes and top-of-the-line Fox Factory suspension. The wheels are Ibis S35 Carbon rims with Industry Nine Hydra hubs. It’s a very nice, very light bike. Our Ibis Ripmo V3 rental bikes aren’t spec’d like this but they’re affordable, ride great and they’re built to last.
Most of the updates to the Ripmo V3 are fairly conservative. Travel has only increased 3mm (2%) and the 64.5° headtube angle is just under half-a-degree slacker than the V2. The main geometry changes are increased reach, longer wheelbase and taller stack. The updated geometry gives the bike more poise and stability on descents. The 2025 Ripmo is more of a long-travel trail bike than an enduro bike – exactly what most people want for Southern Utah mesa trails. A little more confidence on the steep bits and snappy handling on rocky tech are just what the doctor ordered.
Thanks to size-specific geometry and suspension tuning, ride feel and performance on the new Ripmo are consistent across all sizes. Sizing ranges from XS to XL with a new “Extra Medium” (XM) size that falls somewhere between traditional large and medium sizes. The Ripmo V3 is also mixed-wheel compatible with extra-small and small bikes coming from the factory with a 27.5 rear wheel and a 29-inch wheel in the front. Finally, Ibis has introduced in-frame storage for the Ripmo. Now you can carry a tool kit, toilet paper or emergency string cheese right in your bike frame.
Our 2025 Ibis Ripmo V3 rental mountain bikes come with Shimano SLX 12-speed shifting, Shimano XT hydraulic disc brakes, a 160mm Marzocchi Z1 fork and Fox Factory Float X rear shock. It’s a solid build, well-balanced for performance, reliability and weight. If you’re buying a Ripmo V3 and want a different build, check the Pricing table below for more options. The Ripmo V3 is a great choice for nearly every kind of trail in the Hurricane/Zion area. It has plenty of travel and fun geometry that will make you confident on fast descents and twisty tech.
If you’d like a more efficient, shorter-travel bike, check out the 130mm Ibis Ripley. If you’re looking for a shuttle bike or bike park rig, the Ibis HD6 is an obvious choice. For comparable bikes from different brands, consider the Pivot Switchblade, Rocky Mountain Instinct or the SCOR 4060.
