2019 OTE 3Day Baja Event

Fun with Friends

The Over The Edge 3Day events are a chance for us to get together with our friends, ride bikes, make new friends, and experience what our various locations have to offer. A beautiful mix of sun, sand and bikes, the 2019 Baja OTE 3Day event was definitely a good one. Between riding bikes and enjoying quality time over just a few margaritas, too many tacos, and some late night churros, it was pretty much a perfect event.

The Shop

After coffee and breakfast every morning we met at Over The Edge Baja in Todos Santos. Our baja location carries rental bikes from Trek and Pivot as well as a range of replacement parts, tires and spare tubes, and awesome branded merchandise. They also operate a full service shop where Trino and Alejandro are both Trek World trained mechanics.

Riding

The riding in Todos Santos (and all of Baja Sur) is pretty awesome. The first days ride followed the Tres Santos rec path out to San Cristobal and then up the Old Port trail. While it’s mostly a jeep road there is a piece of beautiful scenic trail that rolls along the hillside above the Pacific Ocean with amazing views. In the winter months you may see whales swimming by while you listen to the sounds of the sea lions far below. Anne from OTE Baja met us at the end of the trail with snacks and liquid refreshments, a great little break before the jeep road descent and the ride back into town. We also rode Sierra Madre, a fun, rolling, swoopy trail in the local hills. One of the best parts of the riding was the number of people that came out to ride including genuine locals, expats and visitors. We always had a fun group of people of all abilities!

Food and Drink

We spent our evenings relaxing in town eating delicious food, taking time to catch up with friends and enjoying cocktails at the local establishments. From our amazing dinner at Hierbabuena to beautiful drinks made by mixologists Jorge and Juan at Alquimia, every night was worth remembering. We stayed at Hotel Casa Tota and met for breakfast there every morning before heading to Taller 17 for coffee.

Rancho Cacachilas

On the second day we shuttled out to El Sargento and Rancho Cacachilas on the East side of the peninsula. Rancho Cacachilas is an eco friendly guest ranch resort that has its own private trail system that caters to mountain biking, hiking, trail running, and horse riding. They have their own bike shop and all riding on the property is guided. Once again we had a large group of about 25 people of varying abilities, and everyone had fun!

The Green Room

We spent our last night in Todos Santos gathered on the beach at The Green Room, a fantastic beach bar/restaurant that serves incredible food and sunsets nightly.
