OTE MELROSE are still on a high from our Fat Tyre Festival which was on June Long weekend – with record numbers we are super stoked on how the festival went! The Modular Pump Track – ACTION TRAX was a highlight for the kids and big kids! We will put some video footage up soon! Our events team have secured funding for the next 3 years to help us with the Fat Tyre Festival and 18 hrs of Melrose. Thank you – South Australian Tourism Commission We have had great success securing land next to the caravan park so we can build more family / intermediate trails – which means Mum and Dad are happy sipping on their chardonnay while the kids are busy riding the trails close by. The bike skills station is almost complete – again near the caravan park. Everyone can test their skills on the intermediate […]
There is a new Family Rail trail from Melrose to Wilmington 23 km one way. A lovely flat and easy ride for those that want to take in the scenery of our beautiful countryside and Mt Remarkable. The Southern Flinders Rough Riders volunteers ( our local mtb club ) will be meeting up next year to start planning our new Super D at Bartagunyah. It will be ready for the 2012 Fat Tyre Festival. How awesome- to finish the day of riding at Bartagunayh for some wine tasting of the local plonk. The kids ( young and old ) have been loving our new and improved pump track in melrose. Time trials have been fairly comeptitive with the local boys – with the best time noted on the whiteboard at OTE so other riders know what time to beat!
Melrose OTE will be closed to celebrate the festive season from 24 DEC to 10 JAN – from 10 JAN to 01MAR we will be open by appointment only. Give us a call if you want a map / bike hire or bike stuff and we will open up for you – we are just around the corner, hey if it is not a scorcher of a day let's go out for a ride!
What an awesome Easter we had in Melrose, the weather was stunning and plenty of folk were out to cycle it up. We started the precession on Saturday with a fantastic ride out at Bartagunyah taking in the whisky trail and a little test of the new Super D beginning out there soon. On arrival back in Melrose my warm down consisted of turning the cycle rotisserie sheep on a spit for an hour! The spit was prototype 1, so we were able to detail a few changes in the minutiae so it will be mint when it is rolled out again at the FTF, but the lamb tasted wonderful at 9.30pm and was even better by 10.30. Morning rides were super popular as were the family rides we hosted from the shop. Great people were out riding and camping with the romantic smell of camp fires all over town […]
